That's not what he said going into the RWC, when he made it clear that

He takes a break he says, when there is usually a lull here, but to
see him absent over what was an outstanding event (shortly after NZ
were eliminated) and not dispensing his usual 'wisdom and wit',
absolutely speaks volumes for his *real* mindset and purpose!

Again, your loyalty to a chum is laudable.

I don't feel any loyalty to anyone in here - and he's not a chum, I've never
met him and disagree with a lot of what he posts. But he is very consistent
and this is another example of people making up stories to allow themselves
to have a laugh at another posters expense. Childish.

...which is another one of the main mechanisms for crap production on
the NG : the endless creation of strawmen to knock over. I, for one,
would like to know who these NZ posters are who seem to endlessly
proclaim that the ABs need to "merely show up" to win any given RWC.
Supposedly, this is a universally held point of view, but when you ask
to be shown who has actually said it, you're greeted with silence.
