I don't have time to catch up on the *** storm that must've exploded in
here after the QFs weekend, but if you feel the need, you can summarize your
told-you-so posts in this thread and I'll make sure I read them.

OK then - told you so.

BTW, you need to complain about absolutely everything non-NZ as it's
not your fault, and if you start a load of threads slagging off the
ref and saying that you don't give a *** about some poxy knock-out
comp, then you'll be right up to date with the fanboys. Alternatively,
you could side with some of the other more reasonable posters and help
the rest of us to believe that there really are some sporting folk
left on your islands, and graciousness isn't just limited to the ones
who have moved away (further than Aus, who incidently took their
defeat like men).

*** the alcohol is morphing the once sensible SSB into Mitty.

hehe - I've more mood swings than a menopausal woman at the moment. I
blame the lack of sleep and large number of hangovers I've had
lately.

The Aus v England match didnt have nearly the refereeing impact. Had
either of these sides been on the receiving end like the AB's then I'd
be jumping to their defence as well.

True.

See the thing is we're ok with the loss it was a flip of the coin
thing. The problem is the NH posters and "so called gracious NZ
posters" who are making this out to be that the AB's were
comprehensively out played and the whole campaign was a disaster.

NO NO NO NO NO!!!!!! Honestly, that's not the case. I know you were
hard done by. Before all this bleating kicked off I even put a post up
apologising for Barnes. The point is, NZ get as many rubs of the green
as anyone else, if not more. When someone from another country points
it out (eg Didge, Twickenham 2005 - winning score from a missed
forward pass) they get savaged on here. When the AB's lose, it's
somehow OK for you to complain about it ad nauseum.

The real point we are trying to make is, if you'd not been playing
like an utter utter bag of ***, the refs call wouldn't have
mattered. The fact that you were is hardly the refs fault.
Unfortunately all of this is distorted now, and we've all (and I'm one
of the main culprits) descended to playground level. For my part, it
was because I was angered by the bad sportsmanship (and it really was
bad) and utter bollocks coming from people who I thought were better
than that.

Me, I'm proud of the effort the AB's made in the RWC and with a bit of
luck (justice) they would still be in it. They're not so cest la
vie.

Seriously, good for you.

On the other hand the Wallabies staying around to mingle with the
organised tours is a top effort and something I dont think the AB's
could have done no matter how they lost. Top marks to those boys.

Have you ever known an Aussie player leave a bar before he has to?
Especially when someone else is paying.

Well hell - I bagged you a few posts back Simon. I take it back and
apologise . You are largely spot on in most, but not all aspects. The
ref was not up to the job and should never had been appointed to such
an important game - but he was nowhere near the main reason for the AB
loss. The IRB were inept in appointing him - but what's new in that
regard?

However, the main reasons as you have said were

(1) An average AB game that day - the backs especially. No
combimnations in the mid field. Why play the kicking game too?

(2) No AB plan B. Where was the pot with 7 minuts or less to go
FFS?

(3) The French defence more fanatical than those garlic munching
geezers in the castle at the end of The Holy Grail.

They were the main reasons.

Righto lads, now lets move on.

grant.
