Do you think there is a bias when people are voting for these best-
evers? NZ'ers tend to vote for NZ'ers, SAf's for SAf's etc. I think
most of us would agree this is somewhat true to some level.
But... what about the number of great players that a country
produces.
England hasn't produced as many great players as SAf of NZ, so when
the english are voting, they tend to vote for one player, eg Richard
Hill. Whereas NZ'ers would spread their votes across many greats.
So I say there is a bias towards players from countries where there
aren't many other greats and there are quite a few voters on here.
That's all.....
In all the positions we've had so far, I've voted for 3 Englishman.
I'd defend Richard Hill and Martin Johnson all day long, and posters
from other countries have voted for both of them as well. Deano as I
said at the time was just because I like the fella, and I was his only
vote. I think it's a fair statement to say we've not produced as many
greats as any of the SH nations, but in the modern era those two do
not look out of place in a world XV side IMO. If I was truly biased,
I'd have had Backy in there, but even I can't argue that he's in the
same league as the SH nominees for his position.
I'll give you Martin Johnson. Same league as Ian Jones, Robin Brooke,
Mark Andrews and John Eales
All effing great and no point in debating who was the best
Richard Hill ... Damn Good player yes. All time great? Nah- Hide quoted

Oh I think he is. The majority of what he did went unseen, which in
that position shows his class.
Which would make Reuben Thorne the greatest ever surely?
