Do you think there is a bias when people are voting for these best-
evers? NZ'ers tend to vote for NZ'ers, SAf's for SAf's etc. I think
most of us would agree this is somewhat true to some level.
But... what about the number of great players that a country produces.
England hasn't produced as many great players as SAf of NZ, so when
the english are voting, they tend to vote for one player, eg Richard
Hill. Whereas NZ'ers would spread their votes across many greats.
So I say there is a bias towards players from countries where there
aren't many other greats and there are quite a few voters on here.
That's all.....
Seems like a dummy spit to me.
Fact is, for every position, there have been plenty to choose from.
Everyone has their own opinion, based on who they've seen, what
they've read and, yes even to who they support.
But what irks me is the ignorant (usually Australian) comments about
'player X first, daylight 2nd'.
That's an insult.
I've voted for players when I could easily have picked 2, 3 or 4
others who would be almost as good.
A team of those who came 2nd in the voting would be almost as good IMO
In fact, due to differing playing styles, and how individuals integrate
witht heplaying styles around them, it would be more accurat to have 'list
of greats' or hall of fame etc.
ie Johnson, Eales, Meads are all worthy of greatness. By naming two of them
thebest ever and neglecting the third is just plain stupid.
In light of this I therefore announce nominations for the RSRU Hall O Fame:
