Bakkies Botha - 76%
Victor Matfield - 17%
Danie Rossouw - 3%
Gerrie Britz - 1%
Johan Ackermann - 1%
Johann Muller - 1%
AJ Venter - 1%
Albert Van Den Berg - 0%
5. Lock
Victor Matfield - 81%
Bakkies Botha - 15%
Johann Muller - 1%
AJ Venter - 1%
Johan Ackermann - 1%
Albert Van Den Berg - 1%
Gerrie Britz - 0%
Danie Rossouw - 0%
Pretty much sums up such polls in my view - why have lock twice?
You realise that there is a difference between the tighthead and
loosehead lock?
Haha. Yeah right. The difference is minimal. You don't pick your
locks primarily on their scrummaging ability.
Yes Botha is obviously the tighthead lock, and Matfield the loosehead
lock. But how many other teams in the world are there where you can
look at their first choice lock and pair and clearly identify which is
loose and which is tight? The primary identifier is their starting
position in a lineout, and even that's subject to change in some
cases. And lineout jumping position bears no relevance to jersey
number AFAIK.
Cheers
Brent
