Can you link directly to that comment? I find it almost incredible. I
mean, what holes? The cabin is pressurized & thus sealed "fairly" well
I would think (sure there must be some leakage, but not enough for water
to gush through at any appreciable rate). So as long as the cabin doors
are well above the water line, who needs to seal any holes? I would
think an aircraft like that would float for quite a while without doing
anything, even with damage to the underbelly, or with landing gear bay
doors open (since the cargo area is separate from the semi-sealed cabin).

A number of responses refer, for example #306/7/8

And now we learn that the ditching switch was not used, which may explain the rapid flooding of the cabin.

It may also be that the plane's underside suffered some damage, or that water was driven in through air bleeds from the engines' compression stages. The impact pressure at 150mph into water would have been huge - around 25 atmospheres unless my slide-rule has slipped on me?

Seems the wing undersides got pretty badly ripped up, making the eventual roll-over unsurprising.

Now compare the professional approach to the air accident inquiry by all concerned with the scandalous, prejudicial way the UK's last 2 fatal rowing accidents were handled by rowing's authorities.
