I find this entire discussion and the Harvard guy's discussion

People here love to debate endlessly what I call "Molecular Rowing":
the concept that if you understand what each molecule of water, you,
and the boat are doing somehow this comprehension will make you row
better. Understanding the physics is great and may help to figure out
what the goal is in terms of technique. But it does not necessarily
help in achieving that goal. And that is what Boyne is trying to do
in this article.

Does anyone seriously believe that a yoga instructor telling you to
feel the energy flowing from your fingertips is suggesting that you
can power your house by doing this with your fingers next to the
electrical outlets? It's simply a way to get your body to achieve the
desired result.

If Boyne's language doesn't work for you, then fine, read someone
else's explanation. But the desired results are surprisingly close.
