Suunto belts are uniquely coded. The PM4 registers a particular belt
and that can be saved to the log card so you could potentially travel
with the belt and card to other PM4's. Pretty neat, it works with our
two machines.
So what happens if many different people with many different Suunto
belts are using the same machine, or switching between machines (think
"college rowing team"). Can the PM4 handle that?

If they are each using their own log card it would be really easy
(belt can be remembered by the log card), if not, they just have to
select (so must know) the belt code from the menu options, still
pretty easy.

Walter,
Are you sure the Model D/PM4 has charging capability? I'm inclined to
believe you, but that is not what Peter Dreissigacker told me when I
asked that exact question. He mentioned something about different
magnetics being in place that were unique to the Model E. I was
surprised by the answer, which is why I remember it clearly. Maybe
they changed something since the introduction of the models. I
actually was wondering if my E was recharging, but apparently the
resolution on the battery data is not all that fine, and if it's not
100%, it looks like 50% (and seemingly just stays there forever if
just being charged by usage).

Hi Paul,
When I was still with Alberta Rowing (Last January) we purchased the same equipment that was being used for CRASH-B - which was Model D with PM-4 - after confirming with C2 directly that a) this was what would be used in CRASH-B and b) they would work/charge on the Model D. I sure hope they work, we bought about a dozen of them - 6 in Calgary and the rest in Edmonton, Red Deer, Vermilion... I can't personally confirm this claim that they work because I'm 12,000 km to the south in NZ these days but I'm sure I'd have heard about it if the battery packs weren't recharging.
