A very interesting point.

Has anyone ever done an analysis of regatta entry type over years? Even
if just on one regatta?

I wouldn't be surprised to see a shift away from the previous core
events of most provincial regattas eg S3 and Novice coxed eights/fours
to a multitude of smaller boat classes heavily loaded with junior
events...

Does the ARA monitor this thought of thing to understand their
membership and its needs? (I'm sure I can hear some UK RSR members
laughing ;0)). It would make an interesting article in the ARA
magazine...

Interesting to see in the latest TRRC minutes that "using data from the OARA system: the vast majority (approx. 90%) of rowers appear to have 0 points, some at NV, some with many points, and very few in between". This seems to be an even lower points average than the data gathered by the competition review a couple of years ago where the majority were S3 and lower. Does this mean that they don't race, or that the qualifying event rule doesn't work, or more people aren't staying in the sport long enough to accumulate points?
