But if the rich paid an equal percentage of taxes on their income as
the poor, the poor wouldn't need to pay as much as taxes as they
currently do. The same amount of money would be collected by the
government and the same overall amount of income would end up going
back into the economy.

Tax cuts solely for the rich only shifts the burden on the poor, which
makes them more dependant on the government.
