Re: "Uncommitted" beat Duncan Hunter.

Fred's case is interesting. Right before Iowa, there were rumors that
he would drop out and endorse McCain if he finished worse than third.
He accomplished that and recently declared that he will make his "last
stand" in SC. He'll probably get third place there as well and beat
Romney. That will probably be seen as a better than expected finish.
He might very well stay around for Super Tuesday, even if he is broke.
Since there are so many states that give out delegates
proportionately, he may stay in as long as possible in hopes of
picking up a few delegates here and there and potentially play a role
in a brokered convention.

Here's the Republican list for Super Tuesday:

New York (87 delegates), Missouri (58), New Jersey (52), Arizona (50),
Utah (36), Connecticut (27), and Delaware (18) are winner-take-all

Montana (25) and West Virginia (18) are winner-take-all, but only
certain Republicans are allowed to vote

California (170), Georgia (72), Illinois (57), and Oklahoma (38) give
3 delegates to the winner in each Congressional district, and the rest
(11 in CA, 33 in GA, 23 in OK, zero in IL) to the statewide winner
(before anybody asks: Illinois has "statewide" delegates - 10, I think
- but they are automatically "uncommitted")

Alabama (45), Tennessee (40), Arkansas (31), and North Dakota (26) are
some form of proportional

Colorado (43), Minnesota (38), and Alaska (26) have caucuses

(On the other hand, all Democratic primaries work the same way; each
"district" (usually Congressional districts, although some states can
use a different method) counts its votes separately, and divides its
delegates among whoever gets at least 15% of the vote; the same thing
is done with the statewide vote for the remaining delegates.)

Of the two biggest states on "Mini Tuesday" (March 4), Texas (140) is
proportional, and Ohio (88) is separate district (18 x 3) and
statewide (31) winner-take-all.
