I bought a new computer on Tuesday and I turned it on for the first time last night. It came pre-installed with Vista (without an Installation disk).
I barely had a chance to do anything on Thursday, but I still looked around the new system. After a while of just looking around, I turn it off.
Today, I turn it on and I get a "Bootmgr is missing" message. And after googling that term I find out I need an Installation disk.
I just hate Vista and Microsoft. I was content with XP, but noooooooo, MS needs to to pollute every non-Mac computer with its brand new, buggy shit.
"Bootmgr" is that tiny little program that starts Vista up (sort of like "boot.ini" in XP, but of course Microsoft had to change everything and make it infinitely harder to deal with). I had the same problem with my new HP laptop; 3 days after getting it, I had a screwy program and messed up the whole Vista installation to the point it was unusable (wouldn't boot up). Somehow in the process I ALSO deleted most of the recovery partition, which left me in what in the computer world is known as "Deep Sh*t". I ended up contacting HP, and they sent me an installation disk (it TOOK a couple of weeks, because their service people are so incompetant they managed to f*ck up a simple request for a disk for that long). I got the disk for free because the recovery partition was messed up as I got the computer (at least >I< thought so-you're not supposed to pay if it was a 'defect').
So just call the manufacturer for an installation disk (& have the model no., serial no., and all that sh*t ready for them), but if it's an HP, be prepared to deal with a lot of stupid dumba**es before you finally get satisfaction.

where Republicans cannot interfere with a Woman's Right to Choose
abortion on demand, establish justice as long as it agrees with our
Liberal ideology, insure domestic tranquility, which means getting us
out of Iraq which was a war started under false pretenses by George W.
Bush because he is a crony of Halliburton and big business interests &
we hate George W. Bush & Republicans, provide for the common defense,
as long as it gets us out of the war in Iraq which was a war started
