The first round, specifically the first few picks, is very
entertaining television. The crowd is rowdy, the tv crew (Mel Kiper)
gets worked into a mark frenzy and there is an overall atmosphere of
excitement associated with the first round. To me, it's redundant to
be familiar with ALL the players in the draft. Besides what's the use
of being a human encyclopedia of college football knowledge when most
of the guys drafted won't amount to squat in the NFL? I like to find
out where popular players go and who the New York Giants select so I
end up tuning out the draft after the first round and settle for
reading draft results online after the draft finishes. I see no fun in
knowing where some no name jobber from whatever state university is
going. Granted some (<1%) of those no name jobbers turn into good
players.
