In the show's entire run, I've seen two episodes.
Both times, I turned off HBO wondering 'what the hell did I just
watch?'

If the series finale was indicative of the show itself... then thank
goodness I never wasted any serious time getting into that show.

It was so bad, it made the front page of my local newspaper - the
Bradenton Herald.

Wow.
I'm guessing you Soprano fans got "Bret Hart"ed with that finale.

Seriously, that stunk

The Dumbass marks hated it.

"not enough bullets! not enough car chases! not enough like the final
act of The Departed!"

I thought this season, through the last 5 episodes or so, worked its
way into the top 3 seasons in the show's history...and I thought last
night's conclusion was particularly brilliant. How the hell can the
show possibly end? Either Tony gets whacked, Tony gets arrested, or
neither happens and we have to figure it out for ourselves...I like
the way that David Chase went with it

They explained what was PROBABLY going to happen to every character
(Jersey and NY are back on good terms, Meadow's getting pregnant, AJ's
straightened his life out and he's going to end up as a club promoter,
Carmela has her real estate business, Bobby's kids are taken care of,
Paulie's accepting that he's not long for this Earth because of his
health, and Tony's probably going to jail on that gun charge), then
left a little bit of intrigue about the immediate future (the Batista
look-alike in the bathroom who may or may not be a mob hitman.)

Can we go with the simple statement that nobody would be happy with
the ending in one way or another? It's a catch-22 and it always
happens with whatever series people get emotionally involved in.

IMHO that's the most creative ending I've seen for a series. Give Mr.
Chase credit for at least not copping out to a stereotypical ending
(happy ending, everyone dies, etc.)
