Cats join WWE in feeding needy
Sunrise Sports & Entertainment and the Florida Panthers announced
their partnership with Rock and Wrap It Up! -- a nonprofit
organization dedicated to the alleviation of hunger.
''The Florida Panthers organization prides itself on actively and
aggressively supporting the South Florida community,'' said SSE chief
operating officer Michael Yormark.
The Panthers and SSE through Rock and Wrap It Up! will donate all
unused concession food from Panthers home games, concerts and shows at
the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise to 4KIDS of South Florida, Inc.
''By partnering with Rock and Wrap It Up!, we are sending a strong
message that staying involved in the community and helping children is
just as important as on-ice performance,'' said Yormark. The first
donation occurred Saturday, March 10 following the Panthers/Thrashers
game. Boston Culinary Group, the official food and beverage provider
of the BankAtlantic Center, made the delivery of all unused cooked
food to 4KIDS of South Florida, Inc.
''Boston Culinary is excited at the opportunity to team up with the
Florida Panthers and Rock and Wrap It Up! to help fight hunger in our
community,'' said Bob Hough, general manager of Boston Culinary Group.
``We are proud to do whatever we can to support such a worthwhile
cause.''
Rock and Wrap It Up! Inc. safely recovers edible leftover food from
large-scale arenas and delivering it to shelters. Since 1990, more
than 15-million pounds have been picked up, feeding more than 30-
million people.
Rock and Wrap It Up! does the same with other teams and groups
including the Boston Red Sox, Detroit Tigers, New York Mets, New York
Yankees, Philadelphia Phillies, New York Giants, New York Jets and
World Wrestling Entertainment.
