Well, Ray, you might want to reconsider spouting your resume in here about all you know of air tanks, because you're being QUITE misleading in your presentation. Either you are intentionally dumbing it down for what you percieve to be an ignorant reader who you don't want to confuse with the realities, or you believe what you're saying, and I'm not quite sure which is worse.
Either way, the pressure is what is ultimately important to us as paintballers, because we can have as much volume of air as we want, but if it isn't under enough pressure to fire a paintball at 300fps, it doesn't do us much good, now does it?
Furthermore, you clearly have no clue how the ideal gas law works if you think that the volume of gas is the thing that is plugged into the equation for "V" in PV=nRT(the ideal gas law). V is the volume of the CONTAINER, not of the GAS. The amount of gas used is n, P is pressure, R is a constant, T is temperature. As such, the volume of gas is irrelevant to the discussion, because it's going to be under so much pressure as to be all but unimportant (the actual quantity of gas used).
So, Ray, before you start reciting your CV in here, get your facts in order.
Problem here is that my facts are in order.
Fact - If you remove some of the air from a cylinder of fixed size, you
decrease the pressure and volume of air (the 'n' in the equation).
If all you need is pressure, then why do they offer so many different
size tanks? Why not just have a 10 CI tank?
Fact - we are both saying the same thing. You just don't like the way I am saying it. No problem.
Now ... going back to my original point; if a fill station can only fill to 2500 psi (if that as written by the OP), then going to a bigger tank will give you more shots ... not going to a higher rated tank.
And as far as "people can get killed if they use it wrong", I think you are being pretty silly here.
