I certainly don't know all the answers to paintball, but I do understand
that some of the main differences of performance lie in the fact that air
weapons use riffling, and the pellets are a lot more accurately produced.
Some of the main issues they do share are varying friction, sound, heat, air
density, air pressure, wind, muzzle flip, and barrel drop, but a longer
barrel still shares prolonged friction but more room for propellant
expansion.

Ok, I will bite on this one. Riffling (rifling) with a paintball can
and does lead to paintball breakage/busts. After all a groove or
channel will slice and dice the shell of a paintball if they are
actually paintballs with normal specs and not frozen.

What is muzzle flip? Is that some sort of loopty-loop or curve in the
end of the barrel?

What is barrel drop? Is it straight or curved downward?
