this weekends games

we of course won't play tomorrow because of that damned egg toting
rabbit.

today was pretty good. temp in the 80's, sunny, clear. great day for
paintball. not many people out on the field today. i guess because of
the holiday. still had some good folks out. one family in particular.
the mom played with more courage than most of the guys on her team. she
was pretty danged good (for her first time ever playing). never played
before but she was without fear. never hestitated to to move forward or
better her posistion to get a better angle of fire. the dad did really
well as well. for his first time playing he played with plenty of guts
and grit. of course he caught alot of crap from the guys about being an
"old-timer" but he proved himself. and the little kid was typical of
first time kids. alot of fun to watch. he made many mistakes but learned
fast. he will be a good player for any team in the future.

i had the oppurtunity to ref for a while again today and introduced a
new game. i sent 4 members of my team out as snipers (kept to one
particular area) and sent the remaining players out to find them. it
turned out pretty good. as the "recon" team found the snipers, they took
them out. but, as they found them, it was usually at the cost of 1 or 2
players. in the end there was 1 sniper left standing.

i also got an opportunity to play as a sniper today. made 3 kills.
before i could get my fat *** out of there they got me. (too many
double cheese burgers). but, still it was fun.

everything is turning lush and green in the woods now. plenty of places
for ambushes and sniper nests. and i stumbled into one today :-P luckly,
the one i stumbled onto couldn't hit the broadside of a barn (and my
*** isn't that wide). and one particular ambush my team was about to
walk into was avoided because one of the enemies got too "gung-ho" and
shot too soon. poor saps never stood a chance after that.

again, several marines came out to play. i really enjoy having these
guys come out and join us. good guys all of them. but... not too bright
:-) as a unit, they are tough to handle. but seperate them and they are
walking targets. when and if we get them seperated from the rest of
their buddies, we just hunt and kill them. but it's tough to get them
apart.

as usual the last game of the day was a "free-for-all" game. everyone
against everyone. no teams and no partners. and no kills. all other
rules apply though. basically it is just a last "blow-out" for the day.
burning up all left over paint and emptying our air tanks. wasting all
of our remaing energy too }8-) if you get hit, you are not out. you can
run and come back in again. as i said, just burning out the day. by the
time it is all over (when you run out of paint or air or energy you're
out) everyone is spent and it takes forever to work up enough enegy to
even clean up and pack up again.

hope everyone else had the opportunity to get out there and sling some
paint today. whether speedball or woodsball, it's all the same in the
end, it's PAINTBALL and today was a beautiful day for it all.
