You stated "There is no evidence that that particular deduction will be

I replied with "Can you explain that to my CPA."

You responded "I highly doubt that you fall in the $250,000+ bracket.
You can sleep peacefully at night now."

I replied "You would be wrong."

You have the obligation to prove that my total income is less than
$250,000 per year. Either do it or put your tail between your legs and
walk away.

I could give a rat's arse what your income is. I have no "obligation" to
prove anything, since I am not the one making absurd claims. Where I
come from it is always considered bad form to make exaggerated
statements about money in order to try to impress people.

I know what you claim, and I know what I believe. End of story.

When you are backed into the corner claim irrelevance.

Be a good puppy and put your tail between your legs and walk away.

Not believing someone's claims is not something one for which one has to
provide proof. The person making the claim is free to prove it or not,
but his credibility may be judged accordingly.

It usually is, based on their previous history.
