If so, then luck of the draw more than competition is the critical factor
that format.
No -- Match Play Madness (tm) is only an official event at Thor's
event in Columbus [1]. For the record, there is no luck of the draw
for MPM. People show up at the first tee and figure out a match with
anyone who wants to play. People generally split up on the basis of
ability so the matches are usually fair. You almost never get a 7
index playing 20.
Also, there are no rules during MPM and thus no prohibition against
using a DMD.
[1] MPM (tm) is one of my favorite things about the entire darn
weekend.
Hmmm....I was thinking of the format Newell uses, which is definitely "luck
of the draw." Not that there is anything wrong with that.
Oh, yeah. Scott's format is totally different.
