That's funny. That's just as funny as Obama wanting to appoint
someone to run the IRS who didn't pay his taxes. Oh wait...........

Yeah, oh wait. He DID pay them. Late. And with interest and penalties.

Only after he was audited by the IRS in 2006 for fiscal years 2003
and 2004. Further investigation showed he didn't pay the same taxes
for years 2001 and 2002. He also claimed "his child's time at
overnight camps" in 2001, 2004 and 2005 to calculate dependent-care
tax deductions. Sleep away camps don't qualify.

And this would affect his ability to run the Treasury Department how?

You would think someone who is going to be running the IRS would at
least know enough about the tax code to pay his taxes and know what is
legit deductions.

If Bush has done this very same thing with a republican appointee you
would still be screaming about the crook he was appointing to head the
Treasury.

Prior to the IRS auditing we can call it an accounting error. Once he knew
he owned the taxes for 2000/2001 and did not pay it became a crime.
Knowingly not paying taxes is not the same as an accounting error.

Here's the real question.

What are you afraid of?

That he won't pay his taxes while he assumes the Secretary's job?

Or that he's not qualified for the job?

Every Republican I've heard acknowledges that he's uniquely qualified to deal with this difficult economic situation at this particular time in our history.

Why would you not want a guy with those credentials in that office? Because he screwed up his taxes, then paid his taxes in full with penalty and interest when it was pointed out to him?

I agree. It looks bad. It's embarrassing. But most Republicans in Washington know he's the right guy for the job. And he'll be confirmed by a sweeping vote. You watch.
