One thing is for sure. He spends an awful lot of time online, I mean
an AWFUL lot. Must be a hell of a good life, just sitting by your PC
With as many people as there are nowadays working from home, it doesn't surprise me.
I can relate. I can be grinding away for a couple of hours doing my work (doing time-sensitive voiceovers for radio stations). Then I finish the pile of work I had to do, deliver it to my clients online, and there's a lapse of a couple more hours before another batch of work hits my inbox. Or I'll be rendering some video effects, which means I can't really do much else for a while, so I'll pop over and check in to RSG until the render is complete. Either way, RSG is usually cheap fun. And it sure as hell beats going upstairs to watch reruns of The Golden Girls. :-)
And I equally feel sorry for Ken. Ken is a good guy. He does not
need embarassment like this,
Most of the grief Ken gets in RSG, he brings on himself. I don't feel sorry for him in the least. No one can possibly be so stupid as to continue to do the same stuff over and over without knowing what the result will be. But Ken proves me wrong again and again on that point.
And don't think for a minute he doesn't enjoy every minute of it, despite his claims of victimhood. He loves the attention. He LIVES FOR the attention. Anyone who goes to the trouble of changing their alias as many times as Ken (and you) have, just to get a "fresh start," must have some reason for doing so.
My guess is, it's not because they really want to turn over a new leaf. They merely want to get around killfiles and pull the wool over the eyes of new readers not familiar with their old identity.
what Alan did was over the top.
Yes. But mostly what Alan has done in the aftermath of his original exchange with Ken has just been self-aggrandizing public masturbation. (Ironic for such a dickless wonder.) "Look at me!!! I'm the biggest shithead in the world, and I'm damn proud of it!"
More than over the top, it's just sad...and really, really stupid.
The intent was strictly to embarrass.
And to claim a meaningless victory in the game of "Gotcha!"
When I pointed that out to Alan earlier, he proved himself to be so fucking thick-headed, he didn't see the obvious sarcasm in my remarks. Talk about ***-for-brains!
But I can't say I was surprised by it at all. Whatever allies he had here before, he's pretty much alienated them all now. I would expect Alan will be the next one to change his alias.
He should just change his alias to a more accurate name: "Ken's Bitch."
But Ken did bring it on himself.
Yup.
Seems he has this need for affirmation, from people that are really
not important.
Yup. (And I include myself in that.)
Having this need to be liked all the time, that is
equally dysfunctional.
Yup.
Ken, just be Ken. And maybe some will not
like you, who cares? Who the heck cares what what some Canadian
hundreds of miles from you thinks about you? What only matters in
the long run are those who are truly important, your family, and true
friends, the rest are truly insignificiant.
Yup.
With one caveat.
Anyone -- and I do mean ANYONE -- who persists in forcing themselves upon a group of people who, in large numbers, have made it abundently clear that they do not welcome having such a person be forced upon them, is just an *** -- a self-absorbed, self-important *** with few, if any, redeeming qualities.
Ken has more than lived up to those qualities for years and years. And I don't expect him to change anytime soon.
When people start
worrying about what people on newsgroups hundreds of miles away might
be thinking about them, it is time to do some serious reassessment or
maybe get some help.
While I agree that pinning one's own self-esteem on what others think of him is a bad overall strategy for gaining any sort of meaningful happiness in life, it is an equally flawed approach (albeit for different reasons) to go out of one's way to hang around in places where they're disliked or just not wanted. That's just plain stupid and selfish, and it conveys a whole other set of psychological demons.
A perfect example of this is our current outgoing president. I don't fault the 43rd Douchebag-In-Chief for making what he believes are "principled" decisions without concern over of how they'll affect his "popularity." But I do fault him for being completely oblivious to the reasons WHY he's held in such contempt by over 70% of Americans, and for being in such a deep state of denial as to believe that his recent tour of rewriting history in hopes of preserving his legacy will somehow be received well after all the *** he's done and after how his party has been soundly rejected at the polls in the last two elections. You've gotta know when to shut the *** up and just go quietly into the good night, or else you simply risk making a total fool of yourself.
But I digress. I really didn't mean to go off on a political tangent.
Sometimes it's easy to get all the douchebags confused.
