Re: (OT) Debate

Man that was embarrassing. Sorry to say boys, Palin is not ready for
prime
time. She was
obviously nervous but sheese.

This is the funniest line. Biden was good. She was great.

They were both good. But Biden ran circles around her in demonstrating a
depth of knowledge she, or anyone else, could not possibly achieve after, as
she said in the debate, she's "only been at this for five weeks."

Gov. Palin exceeded expectations by not hemming and hawwing and delivering
another performance like the whole series of performances she gave us in the
Katie Couric interview. If you call her debate performance "stellar," then
you have lower standards for America's leaders than I do. I hold America's
leaders to the HIGHEST standard. You, however, think George W. Bush has
been a good leader. I'll let others decide what that says about your
standards. This "fake it 'til you make it" approach the McCain campaign has
mapped out for Sarah Palin in this campaign is insulting to Americans of all
intellects, and is the height of cynicism.

Palin showed an ability to regurgitate facts on command. Great. Any high
school sophomore can cram for a test. But she didn't show an ability to
think on her feet. Unless you call it thinking on her feet when she simply
refused to answer the question and shifted to some other prepared answer
whenever she was stumped. And again, telling the American people and
moderator Gwen Ifill that "I'm not going to answer the questions..." is
nothing but a dodge. Even a marginally talented politician can do a more
artful job of dodging questions than to just come right out and say they're
not going to answer questions they don't want to answer. That was just
plain amateurish.

Biden showed his depth of knowledge, his ability to think on his feet and
adapt, and his readiness to lead should the unthinkable happen and a
President Obama is unable to continue his term in the White House. He
didn't dodge questions. He took them head on. You know, like a leader is
supposed to.

Sarah Palin, on the other hands, proved she will be able to talk to America
as long as there's a script -- either one she has memorized, or one she's
reading from a teleprompter. She also proved herself to be another "Joe
Six-Pack" type of politician.

We've already had one of those for the last eight years. George W. Bush,
the guy America wants to have a beer with. Y'know, it hasn't really worked
out too well.

Maybe it's time we try electing the smart guy for a change. You know, just
to see if it has any different effect.

Randy

PS - She also called for expanded power for the Vice-President. If that's
not enough to give you the heebie-jeebies, I don't know what is.
