To me, golf is about the other people on your group.
It is exactly the opposite for me. I like playing with friends, and
usually do pretty well playing with strangers. But I also love going
out to play or practice by myself. I guess that's the loner in me. I
love being able to take my time, hit another ball or two if I want,
and to think about whatever I want to think about. My biggest
improvement comes when I am practicing by myself and can give it my
full concentration.
When I first started playing, golf was my drug. All my problems went
away for the time that I was on the golf course. I thought of nothing
other than getting that stupid ball from here to there in the fewest
strokes. I was really hooked. And like any good addict I couldn't
wait for the next "hit."
Some of the shine has now gone from the game for me (as I've moved on
to better drugs). But if I didn't have to work and had the time and
money to play, I'd love to get back to my old addiction.
As Emo would say, "I'm a tremendous golfer, I'll bet."
At least you've got a sweet ride to store your clubs.
