How is the Hydrogen generated? Is energy used? You bet is is. And lots

Taking
water and breaking it down to its constituient parts and remotely
recombinging it does not save energy. Do the physics. It can't happen.
If it
could it would be a 'source' of energy. Electricity is needed to break
down
water and you get electricity from oil/gas, hydro, solar or atomic.
Solar powered cars are a high tech oddity. No one drives on on the
highway
to work every day.
They're expensive, but Al Gore could afford them.
Al Gore couldn't fit into a solar car!
I beleive most alternatives today require electricity at one point or
another... which isn't always greenly generated.
One of the big mistakes that the environmentalists made is to oppose
nuclear power. It would be possible for the US not to be burning any
fossil fuels to make electricity.
In any case, it also takes energy to produce gasoline from crude oil.
Yes, it does. But gasoline has a very high energy content and is a very
economical fuel per pound.
Envioroweenies will not hear of atomic power, but it is the best hope for
the next hundred years. Till fusion. Nothing that is proposed by the
envioroweenies is economically feasible in the near (decades) future. To
make hydrogen you will need vast quantities of electricity. generated from
atomic power. Otherwise the "hydrogen economy'" is a pipe dream.
