As to choosing "brilliant" people (the best-of-the-best). It is
amazing how many graduates from Regent University have been hired by
the administration. What's that you say? It's a fourth tier school?
Sure, but it's Pat Robertson,s wacko-to-the-right ultra-Christian law
school.
Glad they don't need those people with the brains that went to the
top schools on academic scholarships. They might not meet the
ideological requirements.
End of debate. I can't reason with an idiot whose seething hatred
blinds him to logic . Do some homework.
Speaking of homework: Type Liberty University into the Google. Learn
what percentage of its graduates pass the Bar exam. Learn what a tier
4 law school is. Then learn how many its graduates work for the White
House.
Best of the best? No. Bottom of the barrel, more like.
Oops, my bad. :%s/Liberty/Regent/g
Actually for some reason that was the name that popped into my head as
well. So I had to resort to Google to refresh my aging memory.
"Liberty" University is Fallwell's. It's been all over the news lately,
for obvious reasons.
What I don't get is the "seething hatred" thing. It's more like "wryly
amused disgust". It almost bothers me that I'm not "seething hate". But
in the end - something like 50% of the people who bothered to vote are
as much to blame as GWB. People - like Larry - the sheep who want to
hear only nice things about themselves and be led blindly - voted him in
- twice.
He is now on the "what if" defense the "one day we'll know what they
can't tell us" defense.
I daresay that I need to do some homework. I'm sure Rush is on some AM
station I can pick up. I smoke cigars, play golf, and make a lot of
money - maybe I can rehabilitate myself.
I am perfectly willing to "reason" with some one who will take a step
back and critically examine their position and acknowledge that
reasonable people can have a difference of opinion without being either
an idiot or a traitor. I didn't call all Republican candidates war
mongers, Larry called the Democrat candidates pacifists. Not sure I get
that. But then again - I believe Jesus was a pacifist.
Well Larry, I'm not so sure what he believes. Like those AM radio shock
jocks, he says whatever he thinks will get him the most attention.
Generally, no one is as rational as they would like to believe. However I
make a distinction between idealogues and what the current Administration
calls the "fact-based" contingent. Idealogues use reason to justify their
beliefs. The rest of us tend to do the same, but will modify their
worldview when confronted with facts which do not fit the accepted model.
I carry my own set of assumptions around. But I have never in my life
rejected anything solely on the basis that it was inconvenient.
I smoke cigars and play golf and make a good living too. But I'm not in
any hurry for the attention whores on AM radio to make any kind of sense
to me.
