Probably none (as the announcers pointed out)! But it was his only
chance to win the tournament. Mickelson had options other than the one
he chose for his second shot at the U.S. Open.
So I don't think the situations were all that similar.

I agree, but Rick's statement seemed to be clear that he didn't
intend to deem the situations similar other than neither was well
played.
