US Open Courses

It was 94' in NYC this past weekend and it was only 88' here in Houston. Of
course we had this little flood thing going on which tends to throw a wet
blanket on a Major Golf Championship :)
So why can't the most beautiful golf courses in the country get a crack at
the US Open?
Why does it end up in places like Southern Hills (Tulsa) & Winged Foot
(NYC)?
What about all the beautiful golf courses we have on both coasts and
throughout the northern Mid-West?
If the date has any flexibility (and unfourtunately it probably doesn't) we
could include all the beautiful courses in the Desert SW.
Mountains? Colorado? Idaho? NM?
Who is on the selection committe?
Duke Cunningham, William Jefferson & Juan Antonio
Samaranch?
