I heard that at The Memorial, they are using a new kind of rake, one
with fewer teeth that leaves furrows in the sand - making the sand
less perfect, and recovery harder.
If this works, I'm all for it.

Wasn't this tried in another tournament a few years back (like 5 years or
so)? Didn't go over well then either.
Not sure the furrowing is the right answer but I do agree that a bunker
should be a hazard and a place to avoid.
