I realize that the right-wingers in this group think that Universal
Health Care is a communist hippie plot, but here are some facts from
the AMA. We spend more than twice as much per capita, and get worse
results, than England.

"The article in the Journal of the American Medical Association
reported: 'Middle-aged to older U.S. residents have higher rates of
diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, heart attack, stroke, lung
disease and cancer than their English counterparts...'
Yup, and it has nothing to do with health care...it has everything to
do with being fat lazy SOB's that would rather ride in a golf cart than
walk a few miles.
The article said American per capita expenditure on medical care was
$5,274 a year, compared with $2,164 in Britain, where many people
depend on the universally available and state-run National Health
Service."
I'm sure if you "dumb down" the level of service, it will cost less
(wait, that doesn't seem to work with Education)...
We spend more than anywhere else because it costs more for better care.
What is the cost of malpractice insurance in the UK versus the US?
What is the cost of drugs?
If you want to stand in line for specialized care, do it somewhere else
(Canada, UK, France, etc..).
If you want your taxes raised to cover more "socialized" government, do
it somewhere else (Canada, UK, France, Sweden, etc..).
Tex
p.s. wanna live longer and cut your health care costs....WALK THE
FUCKING GOLF COURSE.
