Re: golf club manufacturers are f***ed up because...

Don't know where you're at, but if there is a Golfsmith nearby, they have
demos that can be checked out for up to 3 days. They have tennis rackets
the same way.

they don't properly encourage demo club programs.

I play golf and tennis. When I want to try a new tennis racket, I can go
the store, try out virtually any racket, and then buy what I like.

But with golf, you have to hit a club, often with a bunch of tape on the
face, into a net in a store. The guy in the store might say they will
let you bring back something if you don't like it, if you don't get it
dirty, and if you bring back in about 1 day after purchase.

I would love to buy a new driver, but I went into a big store that has a
range in the back, in a bit city, with my golf magazine club review, put
it on the counter, and said I'd like to try these 4 clubs that I had
starred in the magazine. The guy said "we don't have a demo of this, we
don't have a demo of that, none of this, but we do have the new Nike
driver with a custom shaft and one loft". So I tried the demo Nike
driver after he taped it all up, and of course it felt awful. Who likes
the feel of hitting a ball with tape? And why would I want to demo a club
with some totally custom shaft that I won't get if I bought the club?
And then, to top it all off, the guy said I could only hit 20 balls. I
offered to pay money, but he said only 20.

What is wrong with these manufacturers that they can't give a few demo
clubs to stores, with their normal shafts, to be hit without tape, and
that can be checked out for a day or two? If anyone from a manufacturer
is reading this, I hope you can jump into this thread.
