However, if there was even a hint of a chance that the clubs would
cause them to miss the cut next Sunday, NO touring pro would even
consider playing that club. They are not bright as a class, but they
are not stupid either. ERGO, if even one touring PGA pro plays
graphite, they all know those clubs are consistent enough to score at
the top level. For me that means graphite is about 10 times better
than any amateur needs for his $2 Nassau next Saturday morning.
So, ERGO, Larry uses graphite in his irons for the same reason people
have gold appearance/lettering packages on their automobiles. 'Cause
if it's 10 times better than they need, then why not just go with steel
and save $200-400?
Actually your endorsement reason, might be the best yet. Yes, I'm sure
a bit of it has to do with the extra endorsement cash....and you can
bet the graphite shafts Daly, Verplank, etc are playing are subject to
extreme custom fitting that you and I would never see as a ordinary
consumer. All for the reason to get guys like you to buy them.
But then again, the club/shaft doesn't matter, right Larry? Or does
it? I'm still confused about your stance on this.
