have things changed considerably over time?

once the following was stressed; RELAX, stand erect, aligned with the
target line, lean forward a tad, relax the

knees a bit, and with a low / long straight back takeaway, knees facing
the target line, turn the belly button 45°

and the hands / arms 90° - and raising the shaft up to "near" parallel
above the shoulders.

at the beginning of the down swing - just DROP the ***-end of the club
STRAIGHT
down while attempting to get it pointing at the target, and hands
remaining close to the body.

oughta work, at least for starters.

ps - not recommended for over-the-toppers / chili dippers.
