I think (and maybe it's only imaginary), that when I hit my blades on the
sweet spot, they go further than when I hit my cavity backs on the sweet
spot. If you catch it perfect, I think the blades out hit the cavity backs.
And conversely, when I hit it off the toe (or wherever off center)... it
goes shorter with the blades than with the cavity backs. I don't think
that's imaginary.
If that's true, then cavity backs are more consistent in yardage between
center and off center hits, while blades have more of a distance
variability. As a validation of that... if I miss hit my blades... I'm way
short. That's definite. I know without a doubt. If I miss hit my cavity
backs, I don't think I'm not nearly as short.... though that's not as
certain in my mind. But I'm fairly certain that a toe hit with my cavity
backs won't leave me as short as a toe hit with my blades.
