It's cheap because it is thin also. You can also get most of the
information contained in it from on article Hardy wrote that is on the
golfdigest web site. Just google for "one plane golf swing". Having said
this, I cannot recommend the book enough. Because I am taller all of the
instructors I have had tended to push me towards a two plane swing without
me knowing it. I have never hit the ball consistently except for sporadic
bouts of luck. When I stood up to the ball and hit a lousy shot I never
knew if it was a misunderstanding of technique or bad execution of the
technique. There was no hope that the next shot would be any better. Based
on some posts on rsg I did the google search and read up on the one vs two
plane and recognized that all of the instruction I had was for two plane.
Since this has never worked for me I decided to try the one plane swing: 1.
I stood farther away from the ball; 2. I turned back and through with my
torso instead of flailing with my arms. The difference was immediate and
positive. Now when I hit a bad shot I know it was from my execution, not
from not knowing what to do. This makes bad shots less discouraging because
I know that there is a very good chance that my next shot will be good. It
is even more encouraging when you hit 5-6 decent shots in a row. I wish
this book had been written 25 years ago.
FWIW.
