Go to general preferences and set up your news server, etc. Subscribe to
the groups you want to read by scrolling through the list at "all groups."
Than click on the "online" button and select the option you want for
downloading.

Outlook Express is dangerous only if you do not get all the windows patches,
install anti-virus, and exercise reasonable care. I have never had a
problem with it. I find it has a better interface than Agent. I use both.
