Deficit 'spending' leads to 'debt'. More money goes out than what
comes in. It was not the mistaken promises of social security and
health care that created the current situation. And before you bring
up 9-11, the current administration was already eating into the budget
surplus it had inherited before 9-11 occurred. Compound that with a
tax reduction at the same time as a voluntary decision to engage in a
long-term occupation of another country and you have the current
situation.

I wonder what the end result would have been had the cost of the
ongoing occupation been instead plowed back into domestic spending.
