The tough part is when there is a run on WRs or TEs and your pick is
still 18 slots away. If you are in the middle, you are able to act
quicker and grab positions that are draining fast. This especially
applies to tight ends. You have Gonzalez and Gates, and then you drop
off a cliff to the next tier of players.
In one draft I think I really lucked out though. I picked first and
grabbed Manning. Then at 2.10 and 3.1 I took Dom. Davis and K. Jones.
At 4.10 and 5.1 I took Ro. Williams and D. Jax. Next I got Dallas
Clark and Cadlillac. So I definitely had no shot at a top tight end,
I had to focus on RBs and WRs because they were going fast. I suppose
I could have taken LT 1st but I figure Manning has a better chance of
staying healthy and giving me stud numbers all season long.
My complete draft:
1 P. Manning
20 D. Davis
21 K. Jones
40 Ro. Williams
41 D. Jackson
60 Da. Clark
61 C. Williams
80 A. Lelie
81 New England
100 Ro. Smith
101 C. Benson
120 J. Wiggins
121 W. Parker
140 D. Carr
141 J. Reed
