I've been saying this for years.
1) the stores are shitholes
2) the staff don't give a ***
3) the signature brands have gone steadily downhill (Kenmore,
Craftsman)
4) customer service on the phone (1-800-4-myhome or whatever the ***
it is) is abysmal
5) the repair people are incompetent nitwits
the mall - walked in, looked around, laughed and left.
for our kitchen remodel a couple of years ago, and virtually every one
of those pieces of *** had problems within a year of
installation. And that wasn't even the bad part, the bad part was
dealing with 1-800 customer service and the repairboobs.
Oh, my dad and step-mom have one of those fancy Kenmore Trio French
door refridgerators, less than a year old, and the lightbulb was
staying on regardless of if the door was open or closed. Melted and
charred the plastic on the inside of the unit...apparently this is a
huge problem with these units.
have. Does anyone make decent appliances anymore? We put in top-o-
der-line Kitchen Aid. The dishwasher never has cleaned worth a damb
and has broken a spring in the door. We had the cook top replaced due
to a malfunctioning controller after about six months. At least the
reefer and oven seem to work OK (knock on wood). Who the hell makes
decent appliances anymore?
Doug
Kenmore is made by Maytag, Whirlpool, and GE, among others. Certain
models will fare better than others just as they would if you bought
GE, Whirpool, or Maytag brand name stuff. Unlike Pauli, I have had
nothing but good luck with the Kenmore appliances I have owned, and I
have owned laundry and kitchen appliances. There is nothing
inherently low quality about Kenmore, they constantly get good reviews
(at least some models) by Consumer Reports. OTOH, my Maytag W/D set
(unlike the commercial about the lonely Maytag repairman) has been a
huge hassle and disappointment.
Maytag washer, Kenmore dryer, both at least 20 yrs old and not problem one
lucky, or just a case of they don't make em like they used to?
