I see a big difference here.  The Canadians come to the US, for
th
e
most part, because the Canadian health system is unable to care
for them.  Americans go to Mexico because while the can get care
in th
e
US, the Mexican system is cheaper.

No - they go to Mexico because they can't get care here and still
remain
financially solvent.

If you can get care, but it's guaranteed to ruin you financially,
you de facto "can't get care".

O  D  L ! ! !

In other threads when I stated that it was a lie for Obama to say
"if you like your insurance you can keep it, if you like your
doctor you can them" because Obama's plan would make it financially
impracticle for many to keep that coverage you disagreed.   You
stated that cost did not matter, if than can keep their insurance
by paying for it, they can keep it.  Now you are saying precisely
the opposite.

It wasn't a lie - if you can afford it, you'll be able to keep your
current insurance. Exactly as it stands now. There is no guarantee
other than you being able to pay out of pocket that you'll be able to
keep your current insurance under Obama's plan OR under the status
quo.

If you can afford it - you'll get whatever insurance you want under
ANY plan.

If you can't afford it - there is no guarantee you'll be able to keep
it under ANY plan.

Give it up, unhook yourself from your petard.

You are going to have to explain why one of these statements is
correct, while the other is not:

"If you can get care, but it's guaranteed to ruin you financially, you
de facto "can't get care"."

"If you can keep your insurance, but it's guaranteed to ruin you
financially, you de facto "can't keep your insurance.""

They are both correct.

I said the former. I've never said the latter.

Of course that situation is no different under the status quo than it is
under any of the proposed plans.

Right now - you're guaranteed to keep your insurance, if you can afford
it out of pocket. You aren't guaranteed to keep your insurance if you
can't afford it out of pocket.

Under any of the proposed plans - you're guaranteed to keep your
insurance, if you can afford it out of pocket. You aren't guaranteed to
keep your insurance if you can't afford it out of pocket.

Y'all are decrying a potential future that is already the present.

Define "better".

If you suffer from a serious disease, cancer for instance, you are
far better-off in the US.  If you want cheap drugs or care for
relatively minor medical issues it may be cheaper to stay in
Mexico.

If 10,000 people can get treament in Mexico, but the treatment is
worse so only 9,990 live...

is that better or worse than:

1,000 people can get treatment in the USA, but the treatment is
better so all 1,000 live...

If the treatment is for a serious disease, the USA is probably better,
if the treatment is for a less serious disease, Mexico is probably
cheaper.

You didn't answer the question.

Which is better? Not which treatment is better. Which OUTCOME is better?

a) 10,000 people can get treament in Mexico, but the treatment is worse
so only 9,990 live...

b) 1,000 people can get treatment in the USA, but the treatment is better
so all 1,000 live...

Which is better - a or b?
