I guess it all depends on what you define as a "public place" so your
movement would be limited. . A store, mall or restaurant for
example, is not. Most people seeing someone with a holstered gun
would think that the person was trying to impress eveyone in some odd
way.
True. But that could include a whole bunch of stuff.

Given where some of the mass shootings have occcured- a
store/mall/restaurant might be a bad example.

They might be exactly the type of place you may need protection from a kook.
