Don't know is I posted this because my old computer blew up in
December, but my son (Rhys) got his acceptance letter from Auburn lassst
month.

Except for the day he was born, probably the proudest I've been in my
life (over and above my own graduations and commissioning).

Today he was informed that he has been awarded a 4-year Army ROTC
scholarship. Full tuition, fees, books, plus a monthly stipend.

Very, veryproudonce again.  Ask Henning, Furr, Weeks, et.al.... just
a great kid.

Awesome!!  Completely awesome!!!  Congratulations, sounds like you
have a real good kid.

Now, my son who's going to Valpo next year got a real nice
scholarship...however he still has some costs.

there are decent students who actually pay something to attend
valparaiso(sp?).

Valparaiso University
College Category: Universities-Master's (Midwest)
Tier: 1 (Rank #3)

Valdosta State University
College Category: Universities-Master's (South)
Tier: 3

they're both nothing schools.......once you go down to regional state
universities, it's a meaningless distinction.  Of course the big
distinction is I sure as hell would have never paid a dime(living
expenses, books, etc included) to attend such an nothing undergraduate
school like vsu.  That was my point.

Valparaiso is not a "regional state university."

people in the midwest probably know where it's at.  Ask people in
california, florida, texas, etc.....they probably have no idea.  The
only reason I've heard of it is because of the bryce drew three
pointer to beat ole miss.

People in the midwest really don't give a shit if people in
California, Florida or Texas know where Valpo is.

Are you suggesting he should go somewhere because of the name?
