Should colleges be forced to interview/hire a minority coach?
Those that responded gave a resonding 78% ... NO

yeah, that reasoning makes no sense, for several reasons.
nevertheless, while i am totally against AA in its typical forms, i don't
mind requiring interviews with minority candidates. in some occupations,
and arguably college coaching is one of them, there is a good 'ol boy
network in place, and if you aren't wired into it, you just never get
considered, or else you are at a distinct disadvantage. and since that
network formed back when blacks really were actively discriminated
against, it tends to be a white-male network.
so requiring interviews with blacks is a way to breach those informal
barriers, and crucially, it doesn't deny anyone else an opportunity:
schools are still free to interview as many white candidates as they want,
the black ones are in addition to, not in place of (which would be wrong).
This is bullshit.
I think it should only apply to academics in La.
