It's November... you are supposed to be DEAD.
Peach
I've been in German speaking countries for too long (a
week and a half), my first thought on seeing this way "why
is Peach posting a thread titled The Flies"?
That's what I read to, and the closest I've come to
berma

in
ages is the two German chyx in our tango community. A comma

"Die" and "Flies" would have made all the difference. Also,
capitalizing "Flies," while not an error since it was in a
title, didn't help, because Germans capitalize all nouns,
not just prope
ones.
Wow. Grammar police are everywhere, man.
Nope, just an interesting observation for the intelle

curious (as was xyzzy's comment). Right wingers don't generall

into that category.

Of course, "flies" is not the German for "flies", so it would
have to be "Die Fliegen" -- but I guess left wingers'
intellectuual curiosity only goes so far.
I'm still an American, which means I'm not going to bother to
learn the language when I know I can bluff my way through.
It's OK -- Obama can't speak a foreign language either.
Do you just pull these pronouncements out of your ass, Mr.
Schrumpf? To misuse the term "to coin a phrase," yes he can.
Btw, which language did McCain learn to speak fluently way
there at position number 894 in his class of 899? Is it the one he
was speaking when he called his wife a "cunt" within the earshot of
three reporters?
No, he can't.

Obama: "I don't speak a foreign language. It's embarrassing!"
From CBS News' Maria Gavrilovic:
(DAYTON, OHIO) "I don't speak a foreign language. It's embarrassing!"
Barack Obama exclaimed today at town hall meeting here. Obama, who
often touts his time growing up overseas, made the confession while
speaking about the importance of teaching foreign languages in schools.
Apparently he must have been afraid of admitting he spoke a
language from a Muslim environment:

Barack Obama speaks Bahasa.
from Time,
http://www.time.com/time/politics/article/0,8599,1695803,00.html
"When prominent Indonesians visit the U.S., the first person they want
to meet is Obama, says Parnohadiningrat Sudjadnan, the Indonesian
ambassador to the U.S. 'Back home people think of him as one of us, or
at least one who understands us,' he says, adding that they are
delighted to find that Obama speaks passable Bahasa, the language
spoken in Indonesia and Malaysia. "
RK
Why don't we hear it from Obama instead of someone speaking for Obama?
I found that quote as well, but since Obama doesn't admit to it, why
should we believe it? Do you _really_ believe that Obama didn't want to
admit to speaking a language from a SE Asian country? If you do, do you
figure there's any other tidbits from his past he might not have wanted to
admit to?
To reiterate, on July 11 he said this:
"I don't speak a foreign language. It's embarrassing!"
On July 12, he said this:
"...We should want our children to have more skills. There?s nothing wrong
with that. That?s a good thing. I know, because I don?t speak a foreign
language. It?s embarrassing."
So, if he does actually speak a foreign language, why did he lie about it?
I guess you're going to go with the "If he'd admitted he spoke a language
from a _Muslim_ country people wouldn't have voted for him?"
