I've been in German speaking countries for too long (a week
and a half), my first thought on seeing this way "why is
Peach posting a thread titled The Flies"?

That's what I read to, and the closest I've come to Ge

in
ages is the two German chyx in our tango community.  A comma be

"Die" and "Flies" would have made all the difference.  Also,
capitalizing "Flies," while not an error since it was in a
title, didn't help, because Germans capitalize all nouns, not
just prope

ones.

Wow.  Grammar police are everywhere, man.

Nope, just an interesting observation for the intellectu

into that category.

Of course, "flies" is not the German for "flies", so it would have
to be "Die Fliegen" -- but I guess left wingers' intellectuual
curiosity only goes so far.

I'm still an American, which means I'm not going to bother to learn
the language when I know I can bluff my way through.

It's OK -- Obama can't speak a foreign language either.

Do you just pull these pronouncements out of your ass, Mr.
Schrumpf? To misuse the term "to coin a phrase," yes he can.

Btw, which language did McCain learn to speak fluently way down
there at position number 894 in his class of 899? Is it the one he
was speaking when he called his wife a "***" within the earshot of
three reporters?

RK

No, he can't.

Obama: "I don't speak a foreign language. It's embarrassing!"
From CBS News' Maria Gavrilovic:

(DAYTON, OHIO) "I don't speak a foreign language. It's embarrassing!"
Barack Obama exclaimed today at town hall meeting here. Obama, who often
touts his time growing up overseas, made the confession while speaking
about the importance of teaching foreign languages in schools.

Personally, I took four semesters of French while in college. I learned
enough to read Voltaire's "Candide" in the original, and spoke
fair-to-middlin', but I've lost it all over the years. --

That they shouldn't have played the Old Gold and Blue.
Not tonight!
