nevermind that the blackberry was the creation of a canadian company
Well, he was referring to telecommunications development in general.
Dumn and stupdl, nonetheless. At least McCain didn't say it himself.

Doug
He was referring to government regulation of airwaves thru the
Commerce Committee which made it possible for the Blackberry to be
utilized. One might wonder how much sooner the Blackberry been
invented had the government placed fewer restrictions on airwaves
utilization.
Probably never, what with all the bandwidth collisions which
would have ensued.
Property rights aren't that hard to understand, Chris.
Apparently the broadcast spectrum is, though.
Inability to add 1 plus 1 noted.
OK, you win. Collect your Non Sequitur of the Year Award at the
front counter.

Handling the electromagnetic spectrum like property rights has been
discussed ad nauseum, all the way back to Ayn Rand. I'm sorry you
have been blissfully ignorant of this or incapable of understanding
it.

Let me guess -- you think someone can open a new restaurant called
"McDonald's" that isn't affiliated with the original company. You
can even use their logo and brand names!

Actually, the government avoids that problem via regulation. They
hand out certain names for a price. It is not left up to McDonald's
to enforce their own trademarks 'n stuff.

Oh wait, it is. Nevermind. Seems to work pretty well too.

Wait. Are you saying that McDonald's doesn't have to go
to some sort of government-mandated "court" to protect
their trademarks 'n stuff? Who knew?!

The same court I'd go to if you violated my private property.
Why is this so difficult to understand? If you treat frequencies
as property, infringing on a frequency means you wind up in
court.

Your original assertion, "Probably never, what with all the
bandwidth collisions which would have ensued." is as absurd
as saying government must dole out restaurant names.
