SHE'S just a beauty queen.
She's another Dan Quayle.

"The balance between work and family, always a ticklish issue, will be
brought into bold relief by the fact that the Palins' fifth child,
Trig, was born with Down syndrome in April. Todd Palin, a commercial
fisherman, may shoulder the bulk of the child-rearing duties in their
family. But many voters will nonetheless wonder whether Palin should
undertake the rigors of the vice presidency (and perhaps the
presidency) while caring for a disabled infant. The subject will no
doubt arise on "Oprah" and in other venues." [...]
So you think that if the Republicans had picked a man who had a
disabled infant only a few months old, the Democrats wouldn't have
said the exact same thing?

They absolutely would not have.

Well, given how the GOP reacted to the news that Elizabeth
Edwards had cancer, we know for damn sure what the reaction
would have been had the parties been reversed.

That said, I *am* uncomfortable that there's a double
standard here for gender, and I *do* think that Democrats
especially should think twice about that before they open
their mouths. If you mean to be the party of gender equality,
then that equality needs to apply to everyone regardless
of party identification.
