Didn't I just hear on the news that Zimbabwe is about to do a sextuple
zero-ectomy on their currency? Problem solved. For this month at
least.
African countries and their cash. In South Africa, they don't make a
note bigger than ZAR 200 which is about $25 (or was when I was there
in 2006). So to pay cash for my bush flight (they didn't take credit
cards because too many *** American tourists had gone home and
disputed the charges and stiffed them) I had to carry a pimp roll of
currency down to the airport that made me very conspicuous and
nervous.
I asked the bush flying guy why their currency only came in such small
amounts and he said it's to discourage smuggling. Larger amounts of
cash aren't as practical to hide. You got that rfsckin' right.
