My stepmom lives there, and I was buying her a Christmas present
once in one of the big department stores in the mall on Main Street a
few blocks south of Chapman. When I handed the saleswoman my credit
card, she saw my name, frowned, and said, in a very serious tone, "I
hope you're not one of THOSE Kennedy's."
No, she was not just kidding around. I felt like saying, yeah,
and Merry Christmas to you too, you old biddy, but I held my tongue.
Of course, that was way back before I was fluent in RSFC
acronyms. Nowadays I would have known to say, "YSB. AYB?"
