Set aside, if you want, the fact that the Democrats have far and away
more in common with fascists than George Bush on his most Benitoistic
day, you view compulsory national service as turning AWAY from
fascism?
WHOA! Compulsory? That was quick.
Obama will "set a goal for all American middle and high school
students to perform 50 hours of service a year, and for all college
students to perform 100 hours of service a year." How? By removing
funding from schools which do not comply. That's compulsory.
Let's see....creating a seperate "security force" within the state
with the power and strength of the military but not under the control
of the military but answerable to the executive branch.
Where are you getting your details, man? Did you pull that out of your
ass, or what?
Yes, I got them from Obama.
Hmmm.....let's see...seems to have a familiar ring to it....I'm sure
I'll remember, but, of course, it's certainly a move a way from
fascism.
What would you have said if Bush said the same thing?
He's a liar with no intention of making that kind of investment in
America.
Okay, so if Obama is elected you honestly believe he will create "a
civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as
strong, just as well funded [as the military]"? YOU REALLY BELIEVE
THAT?

"But its very premise ? using federal resources to promote
voluntarism ? contradicts the principle of self-government that lies
at the heart of citizenship. AmeriCorps blurs the line between the
problems and needs best addressed by individuals, voluntary
association and localities and those best addressed by the federal
government. Instead, it seems to suggest that social problems are the
responsibility of the central government, and the federal bureaucracy
must direct and improve local solutions."
